Mini mondo grass
You will receive mini mondo grass plants delivered with a bare root (ie. no pot or soil, a photo on this page shows 5 plants). They will be professionally packaged for safe and healthy travel - the roots and leaves of your mondo grass will be well protected in transit. Expect to receive green, hydrated plants.
Value-added
Mondo grass from nurseries are usually provided in large clumps. We have divided mature clumps for you so your mondo grass can be spread far and wide!
When you receive your package it might appear a little smaller than expected, but don't be alarmed. Your mondo has been tightly wrapped together for safe travel, and it will expand once pulled apart.
We have meticulously divided and counted your plants (adding a few extra for the small ones). Water crystals will already be around their roots to manage moisture during transit, and to aid growth once planted.
Our process of dividing and rinsing makes sure that your plants are free of weeds and weed seeds!
Growth
Mondo grass is an evergreen, sod-forming perennial plant. It grows well in sunny and shady positions, and does nicely under trees, as a driveway lining, yard outline or flowerbed trim.
Characteristics
Drought and frost hardy, mondo grass is grown as an ornamental plant, providing an excellent ground-cover. It spreads quickly and forms a very dense, curly looking, rich green border which will never grow taller than 10cm.
Planting and care
For garden edging, 100 plants will cover a length of about 1 metre. Moderate watering, usual fertilizer and lawn care - minimal watering during winter months. Like most plants mondo grass enjoys good drainage and acidic humus-rich soil. This perennial is easily divided for quick reproduction and spreading.
